Everyone has questions. We have some answers.

These are some of the common questions we receive from people who are interested in joining us at a gathering but are unsure about what to expect.  If you have another question, shoot us an email.

Is it a church?

We are the first Metaphysical congregation in Durham Region. We meet weekly to discuss philosophically what is the purpose of life and why are we here at this time? There is no lecture, but open discussion. The format of our Gatherings is not like any other organized religious service we’ve ever attended.

Why do you go (ie what do you get, how you feel afterwards, what do you take away with you?)

Many people attend because they enjoy discussing abstract or new ideas in a non-judgemental environment.  We find that this creates an atmosphere of continuous learning, allowing each person to grow.  Most of us find that meeting together starts our week on a positive, loving note.

What is healing service and what do I do?

At the time for healing service, 5 spiritual healers will come forward and they will each place a stool in front of them. Then, members of the congregation who would like a healing will come forward to fill each seat.

To receive healing, you sit on the stool with your feet flat on the floor and your hands on your knees palm up. The Healer will then begin by putting their hands on you in series of positions and the whole process takes less than 5 minutes. During this time the Healer is channelling the perfected energy in the world around us, to gently help to lift your troubled spirits and ease any physical discomfort.

Each Healer will offer 2 healings. Your participation is completely voluntary – there is no pressure at all to participate. If you choose not to, you are welcome to use this period for quiet reflection or meditation. Music will be playing, and we ask that whatever you choose to do during this part of our Gathering, that you do so in contemplative silence.

Is healing service mandatory?

Not at all – it is completely voluntary. Only a portion of the congregation will be able to receive healing as we are limited to 10 participants per Gathering.

Are children welcome?

Yes, of course! We have lots of space in our location for children to be, however we do not have specific programming for children at this time. Rev. Michelle believes having children present at Gathering is so important, because they are learning by being present during our discussions, even if they are not actively listening.

Does it cost anything to go?

Donations are welcome and will be used to cover to costs of a growing organization. Your presence is more important than your money though.

Do I have to register to go?

No. Simply arrive.

If you like, you can indicate on our Facebook page or our Meetup group that you are planning to attend, and we will do our best to keep our eyes out to meet you!

Why a hummingbird?

Hummingbirds represent the potential for greatness in the seemingly small ideas you may have presently.

The hummingbird is a symbol of adaptability. It helps us to accept change, to take new situations and circumstances into account with a flit of our emotional wings. Hummingbird, as such, will enable us to dodge through negativity in our lives, leaving it spiralling in the wake of our flight.
